Introducing the Rock Chapel Trauma Healing Ministry
The Rock Chapel Trauma Healing Ministry offers a safe and supportive environment for individuals to explore healing from trauma. Our approach integrates Biblical truths with sound mental health practices, in a community centered setting which allows for a more holistic path to Trauma Healing.
What is Trauma?
Trauma is a wound of the heart and mind that causes deep suffering and can take a long time to heal. It can be caused by a single event, a prolonged event or repeated events.
A Study from The Trauma Healing Institute and American Bible Society in 2023 showed 2 out of 5 who attend church have experienced some form of Trauma. Another study by NIH reported 70% of people worldwide reported some sort of exposure to a Traumatic event.
Good News... Healing is Possible
Where there is trauma, there is also the promise of healing and restoration. The journey to healing may be long, but it is a path filled with hope and the possibility of renewed life.
Trauma Healing was founded out of a profound need recognized by the American Bible Society and Bible Societies worldwide. For decades, these organizations worked in communities ravaged by war, disaster, and widespread suffering. They observed that people were not only enduring physical and material hardship but were also deeply wounded emotionally and spiritually by these traumatic experiences.
It became clear that offering scriptures alone was often not enough; people needed a safe space and structure to process their pain, grieve their losses, and find biblical truths that spoke directly to their suffering. Thus, the Trauma Healing Institute was established to equip local churches and communities with the tools and training to facilitate trauma healing, integrating sound psychological principles with biblical wisdom.
Healing the Wounds of Trauma: How The Church Can Help
In the early 2000s, the book "Healing the Wounds Of Trauma: How the Church Can Help" was developed with core lessons and supplemental materials to aid in trauma healing. Since then, several versions of the curriculum have been created, including the 2024 edition of "Healing the Wounds of Military Trauma."
